Lodge Country Inn Wedding Photography – Emily & Jay’s Essex Wedding…with a Few Surprises!
Emily and Jermaine (or ‘Jay’ for short) got married at St George’s Parish in Benfleet – a beautiful location that’s ideally situated on the mouth of the River Thames. As a Hertfordshire wedding photographer, the venue was just a short distance across to Essex, so I was able to arrive nice and early to get some shots of the bride arriving.
St George’s Parish is a dream venue for a Hertfordshire wedding photographer like myself. With many parts of the building still containing some of the original 1920’s structure and architecture, it’s the perfect place for dramatic flash photography, with the couple’s outfits really popping against the historic walls. I know this venue was also very special to Emily and Jay – Emily’s best friend had married at the church recently, and the bridesmaid’s father is the vicar. It was clear that having him perform the ceremony was important to Emily.
Following the ceremony, we all headed to the nearby Lodge Country Inn in Wickford. The Lodge Country Inn has an excellent reputation for weddings, as they offer up a huge garden marquee for outdoor receptions amongst the many acres of beautiful rural landscape. It means that even if the British weather is a bit dismal, couples can still make use of the beauty of the area without getting drenched. On a nice day such as this, I was able to get the bride and groom out and about for some al fresco shots – some in front of the pond, and some amidst the bare, open spaces for a real mix of styles to show just how diverse and versatile the venue is.
Once the evening reception was in full swing, Emily and Jay were in for a surprise that they’ll never forget. One of Emily’s friends had arranged for singing waiters, who dropped what they were doing and transformed into a real band, entertaining guests and making the couple laugh and cry with happiness. For such a friendly, easygoing couple like Emily and Jay, this suited their personalities perfectly. As the evening came to a close, the couple shared a romantic first dance, mingled with guests, and continued to pose for photos which have created a wonderful wedding album full of great memories.
